Lino Cuts make an impression

Just come back from a fab lino cut course run by Katherine Anteney at www.redhotpress.org.uk. Really got my creative juices going... ...All that texture and sticky painty bits...FAB... ... And Katherine's a sweetie. I didn't find it THAT easy despite having done a little way back in the college days, you don't need any experience just a bit of patience . I made the mistake of starting small and fiddly and really you have to think BIG and BOLD and of course there's no 'Apple Z'. One slip of your lino tool and the nice straight Gill Sans lettering I was trying to gouge out looked a bit 'Rocky Horror'. That's quite nice though as the even the mistakes look reasonably striking. Lots of bits to scan in and play with if any work out I'll post them later. The above is a 5 colour lino print using 'a Reduction Technique'.You start off with the lightest colours and, slice away more of the lino tile and print again. Ooh it's nice to get out once in a while ;-) There's going to be a 'gum transfer' course in May, wax crayons and photocopies, 'Bit Anarchic' I was told, fancy a bit of that.
